Music Shame Fills My Soul

So, today as I procrastinate from the GREs, which are in 3 days, I have been tinkering with Pandora and modifying my major playlist…and my music shame rises again.

I taste in music can probably be channeled into a few categories:

Top 40s
Classical Music/Movie Scores
Hymns and Jesus Music

But really, my Pandora playlist is all about the Top 40s music, and by Top 40s….I mean top 40’s girl music. And really when it comes down to it, I was more shocked that I was silently (maybe not so silently) singing along and heaven forbid, it was Avril Lavigne with an ever classic line, “with these things I’ll never say”. I mean it’s always the songs that I have sang in a moment of rage…cause who can rage better then a female singer/songwriter, i.e. Missy Higgins, Kelly Clarkson, Tristan Prettyman, Kate Voegele, Avril Lavigne, Vanessa Carlton, Michelle Branch, Carrie Underwood, Mandy Moore, Sara Bareilles and Taylor Swift.

When my playlist has more women on it than men we know that my life is not in a good place, and generally includes problems with the opposite gender or other peoples’ problems with the opposite gender.

In the words of another song, “Welcome to my life.”
